Andrea McKenzie

Andrea has worked in Public Relations for more than 20 years occupying senior roles within agencies with experience spanning consumer, food/drink, leisure, retail, fashion, wedding, education, professional services and more.

A former regional director with a leading London and Yorkshire based PR Consultancy specialising in retail PR for high profile names such as Matalan, Bon Marche and Superdrug, Andrea has been freelance for 6 years working largely in her specialism of food and drink.

Andrea is known for her news sense and spotting opportunities – turning what was an issue for one artisan Yorkshire cheese maker into a David v Goliath story generating national and regional print and broadcast, consumer lifestyle and local PR for a campaign to save the company’s Yorkshire Feta cheese from a Protected Designation of Origin directive from Europe. Whilst the company lost their battle, they won the war, putting the brand on the national map.

Andrea has extensive experience of providing strategic and operational PR advice and support to a variety of organisations, including major brands, start-ups and working together with in-house marketing teams, external advisers and owner managed businesses.

Adopting a commercial and practical approach to client service, her talents lie in building strong relationships, being highly creative and enjoying an easy going, fun and down to earth approach to most things.

A keen charity fundraiser and volunteer Andrea is currently a Puppy Socialiser with Hearing Dogs for the Deaf and among her charity challenges over recent years, she has completed a 10K bike ride for British Heart Foundation, the Yorkshire Three Peaks for Heart Research UK and completed the 22 Mile Nidderdale Walk for Hearing Dogs. A busy Mum of two daughters, as well as being a passionate foodie, walker, swimmer and leisure cyclist, life is never quiet!
