Janet Rafferty
Janet has almost 20 years experience in public relations gained primarily in the health and public sectors.
Recent work includes research with complementary therapists to inform the development of a communications strategy for the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), a patient information evaluation for a NHS screening programme, a quarterly stakeholder newsletter for the Information Commissioner's Office and a case for change document on the reconfiguration of heart surgery services for children.
Janet is a former managing director of specialist public sector outfit Citigate Communications. She has extensive crisis management experience having advised the Information Commissioner's Office following the verdict on the Soham murders where the Data Protection Act was wrongly blamed for preventing data sharing on Ian Huntley.
She developed the communications strategy for the implementation of the Freedom of Information Act and provided strategic communications advice to the Morris Inquiry into professional standards in the Metropolitan Police Force, chaired by Sir Bill Morris.
She has also worked on campaigns for Holocaust Memorial Day, the Criminal Records Bureau, London Borough of Sutton recycling campaign, Department for Work & Pensions and ACAS. She ran the press office for the NHS Breast and Cervical Screening Programmes for a number of years.
Janet was a judge at last years CIPR awards and sits on the executive committee of Havering Chamber of Commerce.
