Ian Groves
Ian Groves has 20 years of experience providing public relations counsel and implementation to a variety of clients, working at account director level and above since 1996. Commencing his career in PR consultancies in and around London, Ian's work has spanned businesses of all sizes, from dot.coms and start-ups through to major international brands including Samsung, Casio, Computer Associates, Intel, Cable & Wireless, Motorola, BMC Software and BEA Systems.
Consistently rated highly for his strategic consulting, copywriting and analytical skills, Ian is as comfortable dealing with Chairmen and CEOs and devising country-wide strategies as he is writing and and communicating often complex issues to a variety of audiences. He has also delivered media training courses and acted as an examiner for the CAM Foundation's PR Diploma paper in Management & Strategy.
After a period freelancing, Ian then spent four years in-house at a Regional Development Agency, managing PR for two divisions as well as dealing with regional public sector bodies. After this, he fulfilled a lifelong ambition, securing a paid position with a commercial archaeology unit and spending a year excavating on a variety of sites in Surrey. As he says, the best job he has ever had which didn't require a suit...
Deciding then to relocate to Norfolk, Ian has carved out a niche working with the public sector, business groups and arts and heritage organisations and is now focusing on developing networks and facilitating relationships between local businesses.
Ian read Classics at the University of Cambridge and has a CAM Diploma in Public Relations with distinctions in PR Practice and Management & Strategy. He is now studying for a MA in Landscape History at the University of East Anglia after which he plans to commence a PhD.
His main passion outside work is archaeology and heritage. He has recently commenced lecturing on Roman Britain and is a Council Member of the Norfolk and Norwich Archaeological Society. He also volunteers on two heritage projects.
